Museum of Art Selects Tom Fowler Poster
Bridgeport, CT— Tom Fowler, Inc. is proud to announce that the Housatonic Museum of Art has selected one of the posters – “A Toast to the Millennium” -designed and illustrated by Thomas G. Fowler for the Connecticut Grand Opera & Orchestra to be included in their Spring 2008 exhibition – Illustrating Connecticut: People, Places and Things.
The exhibit will highlight the art of Connecticut based illustrators. There will be a color catalogue with scholarly essays on the history of illustration with a focus on the “Silver Age of Illustration” in Westport and Weston by Karal Ann Marling, professor of Art History and American Studies at the University of Minnesota. She is the author of numerous books including “As Seen on TV” and “Frederic Church, Winslow Homer, Thomas Moran: Tourism and the American Landscape.”
Housatonic Museum of Art has one of the most significant collections of any two-year college in the country and includes works by master artists such as Rodin, Picasso, Matisse, Miro and Chagall. The Museum also presents lectures, programs and changing exhibitions in the Burt Chernow Galleries for their students and the community at large, serving as a rich cultural resource for the Greater Bridgeport area.
The Museum is located on the campus of Housatonic Community College, at 900 Lafayette Boulevard in Bridgeport, CT. The exhibit is free and open to the public. It is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm, Thursday evening until 7 pm, Saturday, 9 am until 3 pm and Sunday, noon until 4 pm.
