Google Cars Create Polarized opinions
For a search engine, Google has certainly been splashed all over the motoring press of late, both for positive and negative reasons. First, the positives. Its self-driving Toyota Prius wowed the world with its incredible technology. Thanks to sensors and lasers combined with its Google Street View technology, blind Steve Mahan was able to use the car to visit his local shops to do his daily errands.
Though Google currently has no plans to commercialize its technology and promote it with new car deals, there’s little doubt that its practical applications can be of phenomenal service to the disabled, or people that aren’t too confident behind the wheel. The sensors on the Google car navigated Mr. Mahan perfectly to his desired destinations without harm, causing him to shout “Look ma, no hands… and no feet!” in delight.
