Full Virtual Reality Test Drive on Your Phone
Those interested in trying out the Volvo XC90 before it’s released next year can take a scenic virtual reality ride through the mountains via the Google Cardboard headset and a smartphone.
The system functions similarly to Oculus Rift, but is significantly more accessible as it uses only cardboard, two lenses, and a magnet. Attendees at the Los Angeles Auto Show could download the Volvo Reality app and insert their phone into Google’s setup. Alternatively, people can go for a spin at their leisure by requesting a Volvo-branded Google Cardboard kit or building their own VR viewer.
