How Sephora Enriched Its Physical Retail With Digital Tools
France – French cosmetics retailer Sephora placed its bets blending the traditional brick-and-mortar store experience with modern technology-and they seem to have paid off.
Sephora is keeping the customer involved in the physical store with technology like its Color IQ, which lets customers scan their skin tone with a device. Their scan runs through a quick algorithm, which then displays a list of recommended products for their profile.
Recently, Sephora has opened up smaller locations that stock fewer products and operate more like showrooms. Employees as these locations are equipped with smartphones to use in place of a cash register or as a quick way to order items for customers.
