Catalog for Electric BMW Becomes a Collector’s Item for Buyers
Israel– BMW Israel commissioned agency Gitam BBDO to create a unique owners catalog for the all-electric BMW i3. Their idea was to tell the sustainability story of the car by creating the catalog out of recycled materials. The i3 is BMW’s small EV built at an environmentally friendly factory in Leipzig, Germany. The car uses a number of sustainable and recyclable materials in its construction, including wool from sheep raised on the factory grounds.
Gitam BBDO scoured recycling centers for materials. Each of the pages are unique and made of rubber from cutting boards, synthetic leather from discarded furniture and canvas from an old BMW billboard. A box made from pressed scrap wood chips lined with sheep’s wool hold all the pages. Some of the catalogs became a display element at several dealerships around Israel. People who purchased a new i3 got a copy of the limited edition catalog included.
