USA -Many drivers have experienced the benefits of owning an electric car, especially when it comes to saving money on fuel. Honda is looking to incentivize owners of its Fit EV model further by providing a cash back program for users who charge up their car during off-peak hours.
The program is called SmartCharge
and strives to make it easy for users to know when low demand meets high power availability. The software allows the utility to communicate with the vehicles through the cloud and provide a charge when demand is low. Car owners who complete five charging sessions will receive a cash back reward. Honda wants to help ensure that all of the electricity it produces is being used, as “utilities often produce excess electricity overnight, so getting people to charge up their plug-in vehicles in the middle of the night is a good way to use the electricity that might otherwise go unused.”
