A Musical Instrument Played By The Sea
Crotia – In the Croatian seaside town of Zadar, concealed beneath a set of large white steps leading into the water, is the Zadar Sea Organ. Underneath, there are 35 musically tuned tubes with whistle openings on the sidewalk. The movement of the sea pushes air through, and – depending on the size and velocity of the wave – musical chords are played. The waves create random harmonic sounds that are eerily reminiscent of the melancholy sound of whale calls.
